Shipping a sewing machine can leave you feeling nervous and unsure, but if you have all of the information on how to pack and prepare your sewing machine for shipment, you can ship with confidence!

Start with the packing supplies – a sturdy, strong box or a double box; medium to large bubble wrap (do not use the mini or small bubbles); and Styrofoam.

The box should be approximately 4” around the size of the sewing machine, leaving room for the packaging.

Before wrapping your sewing machine, remove all loose, small items. Remove the needle and tape it securely to the machine. Other small items such as the spool holder and foot control/cord. All other small items should be put in a zip lock bag and labeled.

Below are others items to take care of before wrapping it and placing it in the box.

• Put a cloth under the pressure foot.
• Wrap the foot control and cord in Styrofoam and place in a small box.
• Put the instructions in the zip lock bag with the small items.
• Wrap the head securely with bubble wrap

Place a layer (maybe even two layers) around the entire sewing machine. Make sure that everything is snug and unable to move or bang during shipping. Then place in the box and tape all areas of the box and label with the delivery address.

When your sewing machine is prepared and ready to be shipped, call a moving and shipping company such as Moves for Seniors.
